June 05, 2026
Ahmedabad: The city witnessed a further rise in maximum temperature on Thursday, with the mercury touching 41.4°C, making it the hottest place in Gujarat. Although the temperature was 2°C below normal, it marked an increase from the previous day’s level, reflecting a gradual intensification of heat across the state.
Several other inland districts also recorded temperatures above the 40°C mark. Surendranagar registered 40.5°C, Rajkot recorded 40.4°C, and Bhavnagar reported 40.1°C, while Deesa recorded 39.4°C and Vadodara 38.6°C. Coastal areas remained comparatively cooler, with temperatures ranging between 33°C and 36°C.
The minimum temperature in Ahmedabad stood at 29.5°C, which was 1.4°C above normal, indicating warm nights in addition to hot daytime conditions. Other major cities also reported above-normal minimum temperatures, including Bhuj (28.8°C), Kandla (29.6°C), Porbandar (29.6°C), and Veraval (30.3°C).
Humidity levels remained moderately high across Gujarat. Ahmedabad recorded relative humidity of 66% in the morning and 41% in the evening. Coastal stations such as Veraval, Okha, Dwarka, and Surat continued to experience higher humidity levels, contributing to discomfort despite relatively lower temperatures.
While light rainfall has been forecast in some parts of the state, dry weather continues to prevail over most regions. As a result, temperatures are expected to remain high over the next few days, particularly in interior areas including Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Surendranagar, and Bhavnagar. Residents have been advised to take precautions against heat exposure, especially during afternoon hours.
