AMC Issues Notices to 37 Hotels for Fire Safety Violations in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: Following the recent hotel fire tragedy in Delhi, authorities in Ahmedabad have intensified fire safety enforcement across the city. During a surprise inspection drive conducted at hotels across various zones, civic officials found multiple violations of fire safety norms and issued notices to 37 establishments.

According to AMC, the highest number of notices, 12, were issued in the South Zone. This was followed by nine notices in the Central Zone, six in the West Zone, five in the North-West Zone, and four in the South-West Zone. One hotel in the North Zone was also served a notice, while no violations were reported during inspections in the East Zone.

The inspection campaign focused on ensuring compliance with fire safety regulations. Officials examined the availability and condition of firefighting equipment, emergency exit arrangements, Fire No Objection Certificates (NOCs), and other safety measures at hotels. Hotel operators have been directed to rectify the identified deficiencies and comply with the prescribed safety standards.

In the wake of the Delhi fire tragedy, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) is expected to continue such surprise inspections in the coming days. Authorities have stepped up efforts to strengthen fire safety preparedness across the city and ensure the safety of guests and visitors.

Officials further stated that the fire safety inspection drive is not limited to hotels. Similar checks are being carried out at commercial establishments and other public-use premises. The Fire and Emergency Services Department is reviewing fire protection systems, emergency evacuation facilities, and overall compliance with safety norms. The campaign will continue across Ahmedabad to ensure strict adherence to fire safety regulations and reduce the risk of fire-related disasters. DeshGujarat
