Gujarat Plans 7.33-km Four-Lane Balasinor Bypass

Lunawada: The Gujarat government’s Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department has invited bids for consultancy services to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) and feasibility study for the proposed Balasinor Bypass Road in Mahisagar district.

The proposed bypass will be around 7.33 kilometres long and is planned as a four-lane road to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion in and around Balasinor town. The project aims to divert through traffic away from populated areas, improving road safety and travel efficiency.

According to the tender document, the selected consultant will be responsible for conducting feasibility studies, preparing the DPR, and handling pre-construction activities such as land acquisition, forest clearances, and utility shifting.

The project will use advanced technologies, including LiDAR surveys for accurate mapping and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) to identify underground utilities. Road safety audits will also be carried out at various stages of planning and design.

The consultancy assignment, estimated at ₹92 lakh, will be managed by the Mahisagar (R&B) Division, Lunawada. The consultancy period is expected to be completed within 18 months.

As per the tender document, the bypass is being planned to assess its technical and financial feasibility before moving ahead with construction. The project also includes provisions for service roads in inhabited areas, proper drainage systems, and a 60-metre right of way (RoW) to accommodate future expansion. DeshGujarat
