Valsad: Passengers in the Umargam-Sanjan region of Valsad district have received a major boost with the approval of a stoppage for the Flying Ranee Express at Umargam Road railway station.

The Railway Ministry has approved a halt for Train Nos. 12921/12922 Mumbai Central–Surat Flying Ranee Express at Umargam Road station, fulfilling a long-pending demand of local residents, daily commuters, and industrial workers.

The new halt comes following efforts by Valsad Lok Sabha MP Dhaval Patel, who had raised the issue with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw during a meeting in New Delhi. The demand had been pending for years and was regularly voiced by passengers from the Umargam and Sanjan areas.

Welcoming the decision, Patel said the approval reflects the government’s commitment to addressing public demands. He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for accepting the long-standing request.

“This is not merely a train stoppage but a significant facility for thousands of passengers who travel daily to Mumbai, Surat, and nearby areas for employment, education, business, and other essential purposes. The fulfilment of this long-awaited demand will accelerate the region’s development and make travel more convenient for commuters,” Patel said.

The introduction of the halt is expected to benefit thousands of passengers from the rapidly growing Umargam-Sanjan belt, where industrial activity and population have increased significantly in recent years. DeshGujarat
