Vadodara: Three members of a family from Silvassa were killed and several others injured after a speeding truck rammed into their parked car on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway near Karjan in Vadodara district early Monday.
The victims were part of an 11-member family travelling to Rajasthan for a pilgrimage to the Khatu Shyam Temple when the accident occurred. According to police, the family had stopped their vehicle on the side of the expressway when an unidentified truck allegedly crashed into it from behind at high speed.
The impact left the car severely mangled, killing three occupants on the spot and injuring several others. Emergency responders, including highway patrol personnel, police teams, and 108 ambulance services, rushed to the scene and launched a rescue operation.
The injured were provided first aid before being shifted to Sayaji Hospital in Vadodara and Padra Hospital for further treatment. Officials said the condition of some of the injured remains critical.

The deceased were identified as Vishal Balu Deore and Vandanabai Balu Deore, both residents of Silvassa in Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and Pramodbhai Bhaidas Patil, a resident of Jalgaon district in Maharashtra.
Police said the truck driver fled the scene after the accident. A case has been registered, and efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the accused driver.
The incident comes less than 24 hours after another fatal accident on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway near Samiala, in which four people lost their lives. The back-to-back tragedies have raised fresh concerns over road safety, speeding, and enforcement of traffic regulations on the high-speed corridor.
The bodies of the deceased have been sent for postmortem examination and will be handed over to their families thereafter. DeshGujarat
