Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government has approved the early release of irrigation water through the Narmada canal network from June 11, 2026, in the interest of farmers across the Narmada command area.

The decision was taken at the highest level following representations from MPs and MLAs and a review of available water stock during a high-level meeting of Narmada Project officials.
