Hoax Bomb Threat Email Triggers Searches at Gujarat CMO, AMC and RSS Headquarters

Gandhinagar: Security agencies carried out extensive searches at key government and organizational premises in Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad on Wednesday after a threatening email, allegedly sent in the name of the “Khalistan National Army,” warned of bomb blasts at the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) headquarters, and the state headquarters of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

The email, sent to a government email ID, claimed that explosions would occur at the CMO in Gandhinagar at 1:11 pm, the AMC headquarters at Danapith at 3:11 pm, and the RSS state office, Dr. Hedgewar Bhavan, in Ahmedabad’s Maninagar area, at 5:11 pm.

Following the threat, police, bomb detection and disposal squads, dog squads, and fire department personnel launched search operations at all three locations. No suspicious object was found, and normal activities resumed after the premises were declared safe.

Director General of Police G.S. Malik, who is also holding additional charge as Ahmedabad Police Commissioner, said investigators are tracing the origin of the email. Preliminary findings suggest that the sender used a Virtual Private Network (VPN) and routed internet traffic through servers in the United States.

“Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad police are investigating the matter,” Malik said.

Chief Secretary M.K. Das confirmed that the threat email was under investigation and assured that appropriate action would be taken. Minister of State for Forest and Environment Pravin Mali said such threats were aimed at disturbing peace and that the police would identify those responsible.

Gujarat has witnessed a series of bomb hoax threats in recent years, with more than two dozen threatening emails received across various cities over the past 18 months. DeshGujarat
