Out on Parole, Notorious Criminal Montu Namdar Faces Fresh Case for Threatening Witness

Ahmedabad: Notorious criminal Montu Namdar, who is currently out on parole, has been booked again for allegedly threatening a prosecution witness in the murder case for which he is serving a sentence. It is learnt that Namdar later sustained a leg fracture while allegedly trying to evade police action after creating a disturbance in the Khadia area.

According to the FIR lodged at Khadia police station by a businessman who is a witness in the case, Namdar, along with his two associates, reached near his office in Lalavasa Pol at around 5.15 pm in an SUV. After that, he allegedly burst firecrackers on the road, created a commotion, and used abusive language before threatening him and his family over his testimony in court.

The complainant is a witness in the 2022 murder case of BJP worker Rakesh Mehta. Namdar and his associates were accused of fatally assaulting Mehta with baseball bats following a long-standing dispute related to family and property matters. Namdar was subsequently convicted and is serving his sentence in the case.

Police said the complainant immediately contacted the 112 emergency response service, but Namdar and his associates had left the spot before officers arrived.

Khadia police have booked Namdar and his associates on charges including criminal intimidation. Meanwhile, a video purportedly showing him creating a ruckus in the area has also surfaced online. In the footage, he is allegedly seen threatening and abusing passersby while his associates burst firecrackers in his direction. DeshGujarat
