GSRTC Warns Employees Against Using Phones on Duty to Make Reels, Social Media Posts

Ahmedabad: Giving top priority to passenger safety, the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) has warned of strict action against employees found using mobile phones to make reels, videos or photographs while on duty. In this regard, the corporation’s central office in Ranip has issued a circular to all divisional directors across the state.

The move comes amid concerns that some drivers use mobile phones while operating buses, a practice that has often led to complaints and arguments from passengers.

According to the circular issued by the corporation’s Chief Transport and Commercial Manager, employees had earlier been instructed not to use mobile phones while operating buses. However, it has been observed that some employees continue to make reels, take photographs and upload content on social media while driving buses or performing other official duties.

The corporation stated that such activities divert employees’ attention from their primary responsibility and could put passenger safety at risk. It further noted that videos and photographs uploaded on social media can damage the image of the corporation and attract public criticism.

The circular directs all GSRTC divisions, including Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot, Surat, Bhavnagar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Junagadh, Mehsana and Palanpur, to immediately communicate the instructions to employees under their jurisdiction. DeshGujarat
