Jamnagar: In a shocking case of animal abuse, city police have booked a man for allegedly throwing a dog from the second floor of a residential building, causing the animal serious injuries.
The incident occurred on June 8 at the Kukda Kendra Aavas housing complex when the accused, Papubhai, lifted the dog by its legs and flung it from the second floor. The dog suffered injuries to its legs and other body parts, while the same person has been accused of earlier beating the dog’s puppies.
A video of the incident surfaced on a WhatsApp group, drawing the attention of Rajnikanth Chauhan, whose wife operates an animal care center in Jamnagar. Later, with help from his wife and a local resident, Chauhan traced the location of the incident. The injured dog was rushed to a veterinary hospital before being shifted to the Safe Animal Welfare Centre, where it continues to receive medical care.
Chauhan later lodged a formal police complaint with Jamnagar City B-Division Police, which booked Papubhai under Section 325 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 11(1)(L) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
Several animal welfare activists and local residents have been named as witnesses. Animal rights groups have called for stringent action against the accused, describing the incident as a deeply troubling act of cruelty towards animals. DeshGujarat
