Ahmedabad: The sweltering heat in Gujarat is unlikely to ease anytime soon, as the state is expected to witness largely dry weather over the next seven days, with only isolated light to moderate rainfall forecast in parts of South Gujarat, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
In its bulletin issued on Thursday, the IMD said light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely at isolated places in the South Gujarat districts of Surat, Dang, Tapi, Navsari and Valsad, as well as in Daman and Dadra & Nagar Haveli, on June 11 and 12.
On June 13 and 14, rainfall activity is expected to expand to include Narmada and Chhota Udepur districts, along with the rest of South Gujarat, where isolated light rain is likely.
Thereafter, rainfall activity may pick up from June 15 onwards, with light to moderate rain or thundershowers likely at isolated places in Dahod, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Surat, Dang, Tapi, Navsari and Valsad districts, as well as in Daman and Dadra & Nagar Haveli. Similar weather conditions are also forecast for parts of Saurashtra, including Amreli, Bhavnagar and Gir Somnath districts, and in Diu.
Meanwhile, the IMD said the Southwest Monsoon has advanced further into parts of Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal and Bihar. Conditions remain favourable for its further advance into additional parts of central India over the next two to three days. DeshGujarat
