No Relief From Heat: Ahmedabad Continues to Record Gujarat’s Highest Temperature at 42.5°C

Ahmedabad: The city continued to reel under intense heat on Thursday, with the maximum temperature touching 42.5°C, which was 2.8°C above normal and the highest recorded anywhere in Gujarat. The night time mercuty also remained unusually high at 29.7°C, around 1.7°C above the seasonal average.

In addition to the scorching heat, residents had to also deal with uncomfortable weather conditions due to elevated humidity levels, with relative humidity recorded at 63% at 8:30 am and 41% at 5:30 pm. 

Other cities and towns across Gujarat also continued to experience above-normal temperatures. Gandhinagar recorded 42.2°C, followed by Bhavnagar and Surendranagar at 41.5°C each, while Rajkot touched 41°C. Temperatures remained high in Amreli, Bhuj, and Deesa, which each recorded 39.3°C, while Vadodara registered 38.6°C. Coastal areas were relatively cooler, with Kandla at 36.4°C, Naliya at 36°C, Porbandar at 35.8°C, Surat at 35°C, Okha at 34.7°C, Veraval at 33.9°C, and Dwarka recording the lowest maximum temperature among the major stations at 33.2°C.

No rainfall was reported from any of the monitored weather stations in the state. Furthermore, according to the IMD, no major change in daytime temperatures is expected over the next week.

Meteorologists said a trough extending from a cyclonic circulation over Haryana to the northeast Arabian Sea, passing through West Rajasthan and Gujarat, continues to influence weather conditions. The IMD has also indicated that conditions remain favourable for the further advance of the southwest monsoon, which has already progressed into parts of Maharashtra and Telangana.
