Porbandar to have World-Class Furniture Park; Summit to deliberate on Future Course

Gandhinagar: With an aim to develop Porbandar as a world-class furniture manufacturing hub, the “Developed Porbandar Furniture Park Summit” will be held on 13 June 2026. Under this summit, the prospects of establishing the proposed Mega Furniture Park in Porbandar, the roadmap for its development and future strategic exercises will be discussed in detail with the industry.

In this program, a dialogue will be held with the stakeholders in the presence of Union Minister and Lok Sabha MP from Porbandar Dr. Mansukhbhai Mandaviya and Minister of the Government of Gujarat and MLA from Porbandar Arjunbhai Modhwadia.

Leaders of the furniture industry from across the country will be participants

More than 50 representatives from across the state, including industrialists from furniture manufacturing and allied sectors, industry associations and trade associations, have been invited to this summit.

In addition, the presence of representatives of various national and international organizations and prestigious brands will also be significant, including Steve Hickling, representative of the British Deputy High Commission in Ahmedabad, as well as representatives of IKEA, Dato Sanso, Hettich, Merino, Royal Touch Laminates, Medoc and Aemor, as well as representatives of Gujarat Timber Merchants Association, Gujarat Timber Auction Association, Gujarat Green Economic Chamber and Chamber of Commerce and Industry Association based in Porbandar.

Participation of various government departments

Keeping in mind the integrated approach required for the proposed furniture park, senior officials of the local administrative offices including the Industries Department, Port Department of the Government of Gujarat will also participate in this summit and present the necessary outline. A guiding discussion will be held for future action after coordination between various departments.

Site inspection and local arrangements

The delegates from India and abroad who have come to participate in the summit will also visit the proposed sites for the furniture park in Porbandar on June 14, 2026. The project prospects will be assessed through this park inspection at Bharwada located near Porbandar and the infrastructure facilities being developed at the local level will be observed.

As per an official press note, it is hoped that this summit to be held on June 13 and 14 can play an important role in attracting investment in the furniture sector, creating new employment opportunities, boosting the local economy and building a globally competitive manufacturing ecosystem.
