Bhavnagar Adds 25 More Electric Buses Under PM e-Bus Seva Scheme
June 13, 2026
Bhavnagar: In a step aimed at further strengthening public transport facilities in the city, the Bhavnagar Municipal Corporation has inducted 25 more electric buses into its fleet under the PM e-Bus Seva Scheme.
The new buses were flagged off from the Shitla Mataji Temple in Kumbharwada. State Agriculture Minister Jitu Vaghani, Bhavnagar Mayor Ushaben Talreja, Standing Committee Chairman Kishan Mehta, and other elected representatives and officials were present at the event. The dignitaries flagged off the buses and also took a ride in them.
The city bus service had remained discontinued in Bhavnagar for several years. To revive public transport, the Bhavnagar Municipal Corporation launched the PM e-Bus service, under which 100 buses were allocated to the city. Of these, 50 buses were rolled out in the first phase. However, the rollout also drew criticism, with allegations that a majority of the routes were assigned to rural areas instead of serving city residents, thereby limiting the benefits for urban commuters.
Now, in the second phase, the civic body has decided to deploy all 25 newly introduced e-buses on routes covering the city’s inner and major areas. DeshGujarat
