7 Killed, 20+ Injured as Bus Rams into Parked Truck Near Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara

Vadodara: A horrific road accident on the Jarod–Kotambi Road near Kotambi Stadium this morning left seven people, including a 9-year-old child, dead, while 28 others were injured. The condition of two of the injured is reported to be critical. All the injured have been shifted to SSG Hospital in Vadodara for treatment.
According to preliminary information, a luxury bus operated by Balaji Travels was travelling from Banswara in Rajasthan to Surat. At around 4 am, the bus rammed into a truck parked on the roadside near Kotambi Stadium. The casualty rate was high as most of the passengers were asleep at the time of the accident. It is believed that most of the passengers on board were from Rajasthan.
As soon as the accident was reported, teams from the SDRF, NDRF, Vadodara Fire Brigade, police, and 108 ambulance services rushed to the spot. Rescue teams used cutting tools and other modern equipment to extricate passengers trapped inside the bus. After the rescue operation was completed, the truck and the bus were removed, and the road was reopened to traffic.

Surendra Singh, Commandant of the 6th Battalion of the NDRF, said the team was dispatched at 4:40 am immediately after receiving information about the accident in the control room. Upon reaching the spot, rescue personnel launched an operation following the major collision between the bus and the truck. During the operation, 24 people were safely evacuated, while the bodies of the deceased were shifted to the hospital.
Vadodara Deputy Mayor Aditya Patel said that police and medical teams were sent to the spot as soon as the accident was reported. Passengers with minor injuries were given first aid at the scene, while those with serious injuries were admitted to the emergency trauma centre at SSG Hospital. He added that adequate arrangements for medicines, blood supplies, and surgical equipment had been made at the hospital.
Bansilal, a passenger injured in the accident, said he was travelling from Rajasthan to Surat for work. He was asleep at the time of the crash and said the impact felt like an electric shock.
