Ahmedabad Sizzles at 40.6°C, Remains Hottest City of Gujarat

Ahmedabad: June heat conditions continue to trouble people across Gujarat as they wait for the arrival of the monsoon. While most cities in the state recorded maximum temperatures below 40°C, Ahmedabad and Bhavnagar were the only two cities where the mercury crossed the 40°C mark on Tuesday. Ahmedabad remained the hottest city in the state, recording a maximum temperature of 40.6°C on June 16, which was 2.4°C above normal.
According to the India Meteorological Department’s report issued at 8:30 am on June 17, Bhavnagar recorded a maximum temperature of 40.2°C, 3.7°C above normal. The maximum temperature in the state capital, Gandhinagar, stood at 39.0°C, while Vadodara and Surendranagar recorded 39.2°C each. Amreli and Rajkot followed with maximum temperatures of 38.5°C.
In North Gujarat, Deesa recorded a maximum temperature of 37.6°C. In the Kutch region, Bhuj recorded 36.5°C, Kandla 38.0°C, and Naliya 34.6°C. In South Gujarat, Surat recorded a maximum temperature of 35.0°C, while the Union Territory of Daman recorded 37.0°C.
Temperatures in the coastal areas remained comparatively lower. Dwarka recorded a maximum temperature of 32.8°C, while Diu and Veraval recorded 34.0°C each. Okha registered 34.7°C and Porbandar 35.2°C. Trace rainfall was recorded in Diu, while Porbandar received 0.1 mm of rain. Most other parts of the state remained dry.
Ahmedabad recorded a minimum temperature of 29.5°C, which was 2.1°C above normal. Vadodara recorded a minimum temperature of 30.0°C, the highest among the state’s major cities. Gandhinagar recorded 29.0°C, Surat 28.9°C, and Rajkot 26.8°C.
According to the IMD, pre-monsoon rain activity is likely to increase in parts of south Gujarat over the coming days, which may bring a slight drop in temperatures. However, hot and humid conditions are expected to persist across interior parts of Gujarat, including Ahmedabad. DeshGujarat
