Pre-Monsoon Rains Continue in Parts of Gujarat; IMD Issues Yellow Alert for Thunderstorms

Gandhinagar: Pre-monsoon rain activity continued in the state. During the 12 hours from 6 am to 6 pm on Thursday, 31 talukas across various districts of the state received rainfall, according to data released by the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC).
Nadiad taluka of Kheda district recorded the highest rainfall in the state at 2.09 inches (53 mm). This was followed by Barwala taluka of Botad district at 1.26 inches (32 mm).
Wadali taluka of Sabarkantha district in North Gujarat received 0.98 inches (25 mm) of rainfall, while Jamnagar in Saurashtra received 0.91 inches (23 mm). Jambughoda of Panchmahal district received 0.71 inches (18 mm) of rainfall and Halol received 0.59 inches (15 mm).
Talaja in Bhavnagar district recorded 0.51 inches (13 mm) of rain. Dhandhuka in Ahmedabad district, Karjan in Vadodara district, and Dahod in Dahod district recorded 0.35 inches (9 mm).
Mahuva in Surat district and Chikhli in Navsari district recorded 0.31 inches (8 mm) of rain, while Kalol in Panchmahal district recorded 0.28 inches (7 mm). Rajkot city recorded 0.24 inches (6 mm).
In addition, light rain ranging from 0.04 inches to 0.20 inches was recorded in several other talukas of the state. People got relief from the heat as pre-monsoon rainy conditions continued in various parts of the state.
Though the intensity of rainfall has remained low in most places so far, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms in several parts of Gujarat.
According to the IMD, light thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, surface winds of 40-50 kmph, and light to moderate rain are very likely at isolated places in districts of North Gujarat, including Banaskantha, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Gandhinagar, Aravalli, Kheda, Ahmedabad, Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod and Mahisagar.
Similar weather conditions are also likely in South Gujarat districts such as Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Narmada and Bharuch, as well as in the Saurashtra-Kutch districts of Surendranagar, Rajkot, Amreli, Bhavnagar and Botad. DeshGujarat
