June 20, 2026
Surat: Around 50 members of the tribal community from Subir taluka in Dang, who had earlier converted to Christianity, decided to return to their original Hindu faith. To facilitate their return to Sanatan Hinduism, a ‘Ghar Wapsi’ programme was held at the famous Jalebi Hanuman Dada temple on Mangrol Road.
Through Vedic rituals and the chanting of mantras, the families were formally welcomed back into Hinduism by priests at the temple premises. The group of 47 individuals included 21 women, 20 men and six children. All the participants took part in the puja and embraced Sanatan Dharma.
All those who returned to Hinduism also took a pledge to remain free from addiction. Through the programme, the tribal families expressed their desire to reconnect with their roots, traditions and culture.
