Gujarat Fixes 7-Day Deadline for Issuing Caste, Non-Creamy Layer and EWS Certificates

Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government has brought several caste, income and minority certificates under the ambit of the Gujarat (Right of Citizens to Public Services) Act, 2013, making it mandatory for authorities to issue these documents within seven days of receiving all required supporting documents.
The Social Justice and Empowerment Department has issued two separate notifications in this regard. Under the new provisions, applicants seeking certificates related to Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC), Scheduled Castes, Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), minorities and other categories will be entitled to receive the documents within a stipulated time frame.
As per the notification, the Income Certificate for Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (Developing Caste Welfare) must be issued within seven days after submission of all necessary documents.
A seven-day deadline has been fixed for issuing SEBC caste certificates, Non-Creamy Layer certificates, Income and Assets Certificates for EWS candidates, Nomadic Tribe/De-notified Tribe certificates, Unreserved Class certificates, Minority certificates, and Scheduled Caste certificates.
