Two Nabbed at Godhra Railway Station with US $19,800; Foreign Currency and Passports Seized

Godhra: B Division Police here have detained two persons, including a woman, at Godhra railway station with suspected foreign currency worth around 19,800 US dollars. The estimated value of the seized foreign currency in Indian rupees is approximately Rs. 18.61 lakh. Police have seized the currency and launched a further investigation.
Acting on a tip-off that a man and a woman travelling from Vadodara to Godhra on the Paschim Express were carrying a large amount of foreign currency, a watch was set up at Godhra railway station. As soon as the train arrived, police intercepted the two suspects, namely Abdul Kader Dari, a resident of Geeteli Plot, Vejalpur Road, Godhra, and Zulekha Bibi Ishaq Bhatuk, a resident of Oda Muslim Society-A, Godhra, and searched them.
During the search, police recovered a total of 19,800 US dollars from the accused. When asked to provide legal documents or proof regarding possession of such a large amount of foreign currency, neither of them could produce any supporting documents. As a result, the currency was seized and both individuals were detained.
Police have also seized the passports of both individuals. An in-depth investigation has been launched to determine where the foreign currency came from, to whom it was to be delivered in Godhra, and for what purpose it was intended to be used. DeshGujarat
