Six Media Persons Honored with Devarshi Narad Award in Gujarat

Ahmedabad: Vishva Samvad Kendra, Gujarat, organized the Devarshi Narad Journalist Award Ceremony today as part of its annual tradition.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Narendra Thakur, All India Co-Prachar Pramukh of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) said that truth forms the foundation of Indian culture and emphasized that the role of the media is to bring facts before society and create awareness among citizens. He said journalists should remain committed to their ideals to help guide society and the nation in the right direction. He also stated that if India aspires to provide leadership at the global level, it must reflect on its own values and traditions.

Chief guest Dr. Amiben Upadhyay, in her address, said that many challenges faced by the world have been resolved through dialogue and communication. She said the job of journalist is greater than educationist, because educationist would influence the students, but media persons influence entire society. She said that half-truth is more dangerous than falsehood.

During the programme, journalists from different fields were honoured with the Devarshi Narad Journalist Awards.

  • Print Media: Mayur Pathak (Sandesh)
  • Electronic Media: Ronak Patel (ABP Asmita)
  • Columnist: Shishir Ramavat (Gujarat Samachar)
  • Web Media: Alkesh Patel (REVOI)
  • Radio Journalism: RJ Hardik Prajapati (Fever FM)
  • Special Honour: Bhalchandra Jani (Gujarat Samachar, Mumbai)
