GSRTC Records 1.03 Crore QR Code Ticket Payments, Earns Rs 112.45 Crore Since April 2025
June 22, 2026
Gandhinagar: The ETM QR code system has been implemented across Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) buses. Through this system, more than 1.03 crore QR-code transactions were recorded between April 2025 and May 2026, generating revenue of over Rs. 112.45 crore for the Corporation, the Gujarat government said in a press release.
The ETM QR code system was introduced to provide passengers with a seamless cashless travel experience. While 4.60 lakh QR transactions were recorded in April 2025, the number increased nearly four-fold to more than 17.34 lakh transactions in May 2026. The Corporation is now earning around Rs. 19.37 crore every month through this digital payment system.
GSRTC PRO Shraddha Bhatt said that 10,500 new e-BTM machines have been deployed across 125 depots under the Corporation’s 16 divisions. Following the positive response to QR-code ticket booking in premium buses, the facility has now been extended to all services and depots. The QR-code payment system is expected to permanently address issues related to change and cash handling during travel, while further improving passenger-oriented services.
In the digital era, the online advance booking facility is also receiving a strong response from passengers, helping them avoid long queues at bus stations. During the first six months of 2026, the Corporation operated a total of 39,372 trips across both premium and non-premium services.
Further enhancing passenger convenience, GSRTC has brought around 2,500 local routes covering distances of more than 100 km onto its online reservation platform. This initiative will enable passengers in rural and remote areas to book tickets in advance from the comfort of their homes. The reduction in cash transactions has also ensured greater transparency in operations while saving time and effort for conductors.
GSRTC’s premium AC services recorded a booking rate of 78.85 per cent during the vacation season in May 2026. Volvo buses also emerged as a preferred choice among passengers, recording average booking rates of 50 per cent in April and 57.81 per cent in May. Non-premium sleeper buses registered an average booking rate of 77.53 per cent during the first six months of the year. DeshGujarat
