Star Air Launches Commercial Flights from Mundra Airport, Connecting Mumbai, Surat, Goa and Hindon

Mundra: Mundra Airport commenced scheduled commercial flight operations on Tuesday, with regional airline Star Air launching services connecting the airport to several cities across India.

At present, Star Air is the only airline operating from Mundra, offering direct flights to Mumbai, Surat, Hindon (NCR), and Goa (Mopa).

A Star Air aircraft arriving from Goa landed on the airport’s newly constructed 1,900-metre runway, marking the commencement of commercial flight operations at the airport.

Speaking at the launch event, Jeet Adani, Chairman of Adani Airports, said flight connectivity from Mundra would be expanded in phases based on passenger demand. He noted that the region requires better air connectivity as business partners and employees frequently travel to and from Mundra, while tourism is also expected to contribute to future demand.

Simran Singh Tiwana, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Star Air, said Mundra has become the airline’s 32nd destination in India.

Tiwana added that Star Air currently maintains an on-time performance rate of 92 percent and expects operations from Mundra to remain efficient due to relatively low air traffic congestion. He said the airline plans to gradually increase services from Mundra and anticipates strong punctuality because of the ease of obtaining landing and take-off slots at the airport. DeshGujarat
