Hindu Woman Found Dead in Rajkot Flat; Family Alleges Harassment by Married Man, Suspects Foul Play

Rajkot: A 23-year-old Hindu woman from Jetpur, who had contested the last Jetpur-Navagadh Municipality election on an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ticket and was working as a medical representative (MR), was found dead after allegedly hanging herself at her flat on Gondal Road in Rajkot. Meanwhile, family members of the deceased, Nandini Bosmiya, have alleged that she took the extreme step after enduring prolonged physical and mental harassment by Aslam Hussain, a married man from Junagadh.

According to reports, on Monday evening at around 7:30 pm, Nandini’s younger sister tried calling her but received no response. The family then asked an acquaintance, Ravibhai Joshi, who lives in Rajkot, to check on her. When Ravibhai reached Flat No. 501 in C-Wing of Agaman City, he found that the main door was merely latched while the rear balcony door was open. Nandini was found hanging inside the hall. Later, the teams from the 108 ambulance service and Rajkot Taluka Police rushed to the spot. The Taluka police shifted the body to Civil Hospital for postmortem examination.

Amid the investigation, Nandini’s father, Anandbhai, and sister, Rupal, told police that she had met Aslam while working as an MR in Junagadh. They alleged that despite being married, Aslam entered into a relationship with Nandini, and the two later lived together in rented accommodation in Rajkot.

The family further alleged that Aslam frequently quarrelled with Nandini and subjected her to continuous physical and mental harassment. They claimed that she was also threatened by members of Aslam’s family, leaving her under severe emotional stress.

According to the family, Nandini had posted a message on social media before her death that read: “Dad, I have lost the battle of life…”

Family members also alleged that Nandini had previously been assaulted by Aslam’s relatives, including his wife, mother-in-law, father-in-law and mother. They claimed that a police complaint had been filed in connection with an earlier attack involving a knife.

Meanwhile, Rajkot Taluka Police have registered a case of accidental death and launched an investigation. A forensic postmortem has been conducted to ascertain the exact cause of death. Police are currently searching for Aslam, and further details are expected to emerge after his interrogation. DeshGujarat
