June 27, 2026
Vadodara: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat on Saturday laid a trap and caught a Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) and an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) posted at Manjalpur Police Station while accepting a bribe of ₹10,000. The accused had demanded the bribe for not harassing the complainant in a case registered against him and for expediting his bail proceedings.
According to the ACB, a case was registered against the complainant at Manjalpur Police Station on June 1, 2026. The investigation was being conducted by PSI Mallikaben Khimjibhai Parmar, who was posted at the Vishwamitri Police Post. During the investigation, the PSI initially demanded a bribe of ₹25,000 to ensure that the complainant would not be harassed and that his bail proceedings would be completed quickly.
After negotiations, the bribe amount was reduced to ₹10,000. The PSI instructed the complainant to hand over the money to ASI Jaikishan Somaji Gameti.
As the complainant did not want to pay the bribe, he approached the ACB. Based on his complaint, the ACB laid a trap. During the operation, ASI Jaikishan Gameti, on behalf of PSI Mallikaben Parmar, accepted the ₹10,000 bribe by asking the complainant to place the cash on the dashboard of his Maruti Swift car (registration number GJ-06-LE-8783). The ACB team then apprehended both accused and recovered the bribe amount.
