Patan MLA Flags Toll Collection on Incomplete Rajkot-Jetpur Highway, Writes to CM
June 27, 2026
Rajkot: Patan MLA Kirit Patel has alleged that toll is being collected from motorists on the Rajkot-Jetpur highway even though the six-lane road project is still incomplete. He has written to Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, demanding a high-level inquiry into the matter and appropriate action against those responsible.
Kirit Patel said the issue came to his notice while he was travelling to attend a meeting at Khodaldham. As an MLA from North Gujarat, he said he felt compelled to raise his voice against what he described as the exploitation of motorists in the Saurashtra region.
In his letter, Patel wrote, “When I was on my way to a meeting at Khodaldham, I noticed that the six-laning work on the Rajkot-Jetpur highway is still in progress. While the project is necessary, the work on the road and several bridges is incomplete, and there are still many diversions. Despite this, a private company is collecting toll tax between Rajkot and Gondal. I am surprised that the work is progressing at a slow pace, yet toll is being collected even though adequate facilities are not being provided to the public. I fail to understand who granted permission for such toll collection. Can this not be called cheating and looting of the public?”
The MLA further urged the Chief Minister to order an immediate inquiry into the matter and take appropriate action against those found responsible. DeshGujarat
