Statue of Unity to Host Live Tribal Dance Performances Twice a Month

Ekta Nagar: Visitors to the Statue of Unity in Ekta Nagar will soon get to enjoy regular live performances showcasing Gujarat’s tribal heritage, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Statue of Unity (SoU) Authority and the Gujarat Tribal Research and Training Society (GTRTS).
Under the agreement, a total of 14 traditional tribal dances and cultural programmes will be presented by tribal artists from various districts of Gujarat on the second Saturday of every month at the world-famous tourist destination, the Statue of Unity in Ekta Nagar.
These include Rathwa Dance – Chhota Udepur, Ger Dance – Chhota Udepur, Mewasi Dance – Chhota Udepur, Kahdiya Dance – Dang, Pawari Dance – Dang, Folk Dance – Narmada, Holi Dance – Narmada, Gamit Dhol Dance – Tapi, Chaudhary Folk Dance – Tapi, Talwar Dance – Mahisagar, Timli Dance – Mahisagar, Mandal Dance – Navsari, Toor Dance – Navsari, and Kahli Dance – Valsad.
Since Gujarat Foundation Day on May 1, 2024, several tribal dances from various districts of the state have been performed at the Statue of Unity every fortnight on Saturdays, receiving an enthusiastic response from tourists.
