Gujarat Govt to Begin MSP Procurement of Moong from July 7

Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government today announced that the procurement of summer moong at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) will begin across the state from July 7.

Addressing the media after the state Cabinet meeting, government spokesperson and Minister Jitubhai Vaghani said that the Government of India has fixed the MSP for summer moong for the 2025-26 marketing season at Rs. 8,768 per quintal. Whenever the market price falls below the MSP, the crop is procured under the Price Support Scheme (PSS) of the Centre’s PM-AASHA scheme to protect farmers from financial losses.

The minister said that a total of 14,383 farmers from across the state have registered to sell their summer moong at the MSP. To facilitate procurement, the state has set up 51 purchase centres.

The registered farmers will be informed about the procurement schedule through SMS. After receiving the message, they will have to report to their allotted purchase centre with the specified quantity of moong.

For the 2025-26 season, summer moong will be procured based on the cultivated area of each farmer, considering a productivity of 1,200 kg per hectare. However, the maximum procurement limit has been fixed at 1,500 kg (75 maunds) per farmer. DeshGujarat
