July 01, 2026
Ahmedabad: Along with attractions such as the Atal Foot Overbridge and Flower Park on the Sabarmati Riverfront, the city is set to get another leisure attraction. A linear garden, developed on a PPP model at a cost of Rs. 12 crore, has been built over an area of 18,000 square metres between Ellis Bridge and Nehru Bridge. The garden is now awaiting inauguration.
The linear heritage garden has been developed on the eastern side of the Sabarmati Riverfront, adjacent to the heritage wall between Ellis Bridge and Nehru Bridge. It has been built by the U. N. Mehta Foundation.
One of the key attractions of the garden is a display of replicas of coins and currency notes that were once in circulation in Ahmedabad. A gazebo has also been constructed to recreate the atmosphere of the cultural shows that were once held on the banks of the Sabarmati River.
The garden also features walking tracks, children’s play equipment, seating areas for senior citizens, landscaped footpaths and other visitor amenities, making it an attractive recreational space for morning walkers and families. DeshGujarat
