Jamnagar: The Southwest Monsoon has advanced further across Gujarat, covering more than half of the state, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said today.
The IMD, in its bulletin, said, “The Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of the north Arabian Sea, Gujarat, the remaining parts of Madhya Pradesh, and some more parts of Rajasthan and Haryana today, the 03rd July, 2026.”
As per the central weather watchdog, the Northern Limit of Monsoon passes through Jamnagar, Udaipur, Ajmer, Jhunjhunu, Hisar, and Bhatinda as on July 3.
Furthermore, conditions are favourable for the further advance of the Southwest Monsoon into some more parts of the north Arabian Sea, Gujarat, the remaining parts of Haryana and Punjab, and some more parts of Rajasthan during the next 4–5 days, the IMD said.
As of now, the monsoon has covered the entire South Gujarat region along with parts of Central Gujarat and most of Saurashtra. Meanwhile, the remaining areas yet to see the onset of the monsoon include Kutch, Banaskantha, Patan, Vav Tharad, Mehsana, and parts of Sabarkantha.
Notably, the monsoon’s advancement has been delayed this year, as it arrived in the state nine days late, on June 24 instead of the normal onset date of June 15. DeshGujarat
