July 04, 2026
Surat: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) conducted a decoy operation based on a complaint of bribery involving visits to prisoners at Lajpore Central Jail. In this operation, Pratik Kailash Sasane (aged 35), a resident of Keshavnagar, Bhestan, Surat, was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 500.
The ACB received information that people coming to visit prisoners at Lajpore Central Jail were being asked to pay bribes ranging from Rs. 500 to Rs. 1,000 on the pretext of being allowed to visit without registering or filling out the visitor form. To verify this information, a trap was set. During the decoy operation, the accused called the decoy through a hand gesture and demanded a bribe of Rs. 500. As soon as he accepted the bribe, the ACB team caught him red-handed. The Rs. 500 bribe accepted by the accused was also seized.
In this case, the ACB has registered a corruption-related case against the accused, and further legal action has been initiated. DeshGujarat
