AMC clears key land-use changes for Sardar Patel Sports Enclave in Ahmedabad
July 04, 2026
Ahmedabad: The proposed Sardar Patel Sports Enclave in Ahmedabad has taken a significant step forward after the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) approved changes in the land use of several reserved plots in the Sabarmati and Koteshwar Town Planning (TP) schemes, paving the way for the mega project.
As per a TOI report, the AMC administrator approved a proposal during the Standing Committee meeting on March 20 to change the land use of four plots in Sabarmati TP Scheme No. 23. These plots, which were earlier reserved for gardens, urban forests, and other public purposes, have now been redesignated as “social infrastructure,” making them available for construction.
An AMC official said the fourth variation of Sabarmati TP Scheme No. 23 approved the change in land use of four plots covering a combined area of 56,845 square metres.
The report added that the land-use change for a plot under Koteshwar TP Scheme No. 48 has also been completed, and the proposal will soon be placed before the Town Planning Committee for approval.
The civic body is expected to submit detailed plans for the proposed sports infrastructure to the state government for approval in the coming days. While most of the required land has been secured, one privately owned plot still needs to be acquired. In addition, a court case concerning the recovery of government land leased to the Asaram Ashram is still pending. DeshGujarat
