Gujarat Govt Notifies Higher Compensation for Farmland Affected by Power Line Projects
July 05, 2026
Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government has issued a detailed circular within 24 hours to implement its decision to significantly enhance compensation for farmers whose land is affected by electricity transmission towers and power lines.
Government spokesperson and Minister Jitubhai Vaghani said the decision provides for compensation at double the prevailing market value instead of the Jantri rate, addressing a long-standing demand of farmers.
Vaghani said, “The circular was issued in just one day, reflecting the government’s commitment to farmers despite the administration being occupied with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Gujarat and other official engagements.”
According to the minister, the revised compensation policy is aimed at safeguarding the economic interests of farmers and will provide higher financial relief to landowners affected by power transmission infrastructure. He added that the decision demonstrates the state government’s commitment to taking prompt action on promises made in the interest of farmers. DeshGujarat
