ACB Gujarat Nabs Excise Clerk Taking Bribe for Liquor Permit in Decoy Trap

Valsad: In a decoy operation, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday caught Anilbhai Ranchhodbhai Kanani (34), a junior clerk working in the office of the Prohibition and Excise Superintendent in Valsad, red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 10,000 to issue a liquor permit.
The ACB had received reliable information that officers and employees of the Office of the Prohibition and Excise Superintendent were demanding bribes ranging from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 10,000 for issuing liquor permits. To verify the information, the ACB arranged a decoy operation.
During the operation, the decoy applicant applied for a liquor permit. The accused, Anilbhai Kanani, allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs. 10,000 in exchange for issuing the permit. As soon as he accepted the bribe amount, the ACB team caught him red-handed. The bribe amount of Rs. 10,000 was also seized.
The operation was carried out in the corridor of the Office of the Prohibition and Excise Superintendent on the third floor of Ashish Building in Valsad. DeshGujarat
