Delayed Monsoon Finally Covers Entire Gujarat

Gandhinagar: The Southwest Monsoon 2026 has now covered the entire state of Gujarat. The monsoon, which was delayed this year, made its onset over the southern parts of the state on June 24 and took 14 days to cover the entire state.

Notably, last year the monsoon covered the entire state in just three days. It arrived in Gujarat on June 16 and spread across the entire state by June 18.

In its latest bulletin, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said, “The Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of the north Arabian Sea, remaining parts of Gujarat and some more parts of Rajasthan and Haryana. Thus, the Southwest Monsoon has covered the entire Gujarat state as on today, the 7th of July.”

“The Northern Limit of Monsoon passes through 24.5°N/65°E, Barmer, Jodhpur, Rajgarh (Dist. Churu), Bhatinda and 32.5°N/70°E as on 7th July, 2026,” the IMD further said.

The monsoon took more than a week longer than usual to cover the entire state. Under normal conditions, the Southwest Monsoon covers all of Gujarat by June 30. DeshGujarat
