Gujarat Cop Absconds After Accepting Bribe During ACB Trap

Bhuj: The Gujarat Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a case against a Police Sub Inspector (PSI) posted at Vayor Police Station in West Kutch for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹40,000.

The accused has been identified as Indravijaysinh Rajendrasinh Gohil, a Class-III Police Sub Inspector. According to the ACB, he had allegedly demanded a bribe of ₹50,000 from the complainant in connection with a case registered against him at Vayor Police Station. The officer allegedly sought the money to avoid harassing the complainant and to allow the complainant’s factory to continue operating.

Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the ACB through its toll-free number, 1064, and subsequently lodged a formal complaint with the ACB office in Gandhidham.

Based on the complaint, the ACB organised a trap. During the operation, the accused allegedly negotiated with the complainant and agreed to accept ₹40,000 instead of the originally demanded ₹50,000. However, after accepting the money near the gate of the Gayatri Temple in Bhuj, the officer became suspicious of the trap, took the cash, and fled from the spot. An offence has been registered against him, and further legal action is underway. DeshGujarat
