July 08, 2026
Gandhinagar: The ‘Shri Krishna-Rukmini Yatra Dham’ at Madhavpur in Porbandar district, where Lord Shri Krishna and Mata Rukmini got married, is being redeveloped by the Gujarat Pavitra Yatra Dham Vikas Board.
Under the complete project, all the mythological places within a radius of one kilometer in Madhavpur village are being woven into a beautiful thread. Preparations are being made to carry out the work of the second phase, moving forward on the strong foundation built at a cost of ₹47.99 crore in the first phase. In the first phase, the Shri Rukmini Mataji Temple, the witness of the wedding altar, ‘Chori Myra’, the holy Brahmakund, and the grand main entrance have been inaugurated by the Chief Minister himself. Now the work of the second phase has started in full swing. The state government is taking forward the development works of the second phase at a rapid pace at a cost of ₹43.72 crore. The deadline for completing the second phase within two years has been set.
The key part of the second phase is the renovation of the temple of Lord Madhavrayaji. This historic temple will be given a new look at a cost of ₹20.25 crore. Once this work is completed, a unique confluence of spirituality, history, and ancient architecture will be seen here.
The beach near the Madhavrayaji Temple is being developed as a new tourism hotspot. A total of a 200-meter-long beach development will be done here. Keeping in mind the basic amenities of the tourists, modern food kiosks, high-tech toilets, and a very beautiful arrangement of seats (food court seating) are being prepared.
Freeing devotees from traffic jams
The outer part of the temple premises is being developed in a systematic manner to manage the huge crowd that gathers during the Madhavpur fair and festivals. This huge outer plaza and organized parking space, built at a cost of ₹5.31 crore, will make the movement of devotees extremely easy and safe.
Important foundation works have started by the Roads and Building Department to give a new expansion to connectivity. Under this, the road leading directly from the local turtle breeding center to the Madhavrayaji Temple is being widened to 9 meters so that the problem of narrow roads will be permanently eliminated.
Rukmini-Krishna Dham will be made ‘Instagram-friendly’ with ₹3.45 crore
This religious complex is being given a new look to attract the younger generation and modern tourists. With a budget of ₹3.45 crore, magnificent landscapes, colorful fountains, various artistic statues (sculptures) depicting Sanatan culture, clear signboards, and attractive selfie points are being created throughout the entire area.
All the basic lines are being made underground so that there is no obstacle to the beauty of the complex. A network of modern irrigation systems is being laid throughout the project area to ensure that the greenery of the trees, plants, and landscape remains evergreen. DeshGujarat
