July 08, 2026
Dahod: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat has caught Rameshbhai Bhikhabhai Baria, the sarpanch of Ankli village in Devgadhbaria taluka of Dahod district, red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 50,000.
According to the ACB, liquor was seized by the police from the complainant’s farm about 15 days ago. At that time, the complainant was not present at home. Later, Sarpanch Rameshbhai Baria contacted the complainant and offered to settle the matter with the police as a middleman. The accused told the complainant that he would have to pay money to the police to get the case closed and that he would settle the entire matter for Rs. 50,000.
As the complainant did not want to pay the bribe, he approached the ACB. Based on the complaint, the ACB laid a trap. As planned, on the road leading from the lake towards Samadi Circle in front of the Devgadhbaria Taluka Panchayat, the accused accepted Rs. 50,000 as a bribe from the complainant. The ACB team then caught him red-handed. DeshGujarat
