Gujarat Govt to Provide Free Land for 11 Civic Projects in 9 New Municipal Corporations for 5 Years
July 10, 2026
Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government has taken a key decision for the holistic development of the state’s nine newly formed municipal corporations. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has decided that government land required for 11 key public-interest projects will be provided to these municipal corporations free of cost for the next five years.
The municipal corporations of Mehsana, Nadiad, Anand, Navsari, Vapi, Morbi, Gandhidham, Surendranagar, and Porbandar will benefit from this decision. The government said these civic bodies have recently been upgraded from municipalities to municipal corporations and are currently in a transition phase. Additionally, their jurisdictions have expanded to include new areas.
According to the government, the free land allocation will be used to develop 11 essential civic infrastructure projects, including municipal administrative buildings (Seva Sadans), fire stations, sewage treatment plants (STPs), water treatment plants (WTPs), underground drainage systems, pumping stations, drinking water supply projects, solid and liquid waste management plants, stormwater drainage systems, Anganwadis, and public facilities such as town halls, community halls, and convention centres.
The Chief Minister has also decided to simplify the land allocation process at the district level to speed up infrastructure development in these new municipal corporations. The government believes this move will accelerate the construction of fire stations, STPs, solid waste management plants, and other urban infrastructure, ultimately ensuring better civic services for residents.
