July 10, 2026
Tharad: The Gujarat Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested a contractual peon working at the Tharad Mamlatdar office red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹200.
The arrested accused has been identified as Kiritbhai Vaghjibhai Soni, who works as a peon on a contractual basis at the Tharad Mamlatdar office.
The ACB had received information that officials and staff at the Tharad Mamlatdar office were demanding bribes ranging from ₹100 to ₹2,000 from applicants for the approval of revenue records and the issuance of certified copies. Acting on this information, the ACB organised a decoy trap on July 10.
During the trap, the accused demanded a bribe of ₹200 from a vigilant citizen acting as a decoy in exchange for providing certified copies of revenue records. As soon as he accepted the bribe amount, the ACB team arrested him red-handed in the record room of the Tharad Mamlatdar office. The entire bribe amount of ₹200 was also recovered from the scene.
