UNICEF, PIB, AIIMS Nagpur to jointly organise Media Workshop on Childhood NCDs

Ahmedabad: UNICEF Maharashtra, UNICEF India Country Office (ICO), and Press Information Bureau (PIB) West Zone, in collaboration with AIIMS Nagpur, will be organising a two-day Media Capacity Building Workshop on Childhood Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) at AIIMS Nagpur, Maharashtra, on July 13 and 14, 2026.

The workshop is being organised with the aim of increasing the media’s understanding of the growing burden of non-communicable diseases among children in India and strengthening their capacity to prepare responsible and fact-based reports.

National and state-level journalists from various states across the country, including Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh, will participate in the workshop. The programme will feature discussions and interactions with leading experts, policymakers, and health professionals working in the field of child health.

The workshop will provide detailed information on the different types of childhood non-communicable diseases, the importance of early identification and timely treatment, new research available in this field, and government policies and programmes. It will also discuss the opportunities and challenges in media reporting on childhood NCDs.

As part of the programme, participants will be taken to the Childhood NCD Clinic at AIIMS Nagpur, where they will be able to interact directly with doctors, child patients, and their caregivers.

They will also get an opportunity to develop effective story ideas and reporting approaches through group exercises and discussions.

The workshop will also feature interactive sessions on topics such as fact-checking, ethical journalism, and evidence-based storytelling by experts from AIIMS Nagpur, UNICEF India, and the Press Information Bureau. DeshGujarat
