Kirti Patel Faces Another FIR; Suspended Cop Named Co-Accused

Surat: Puna police have registered another FIR against history-sheeter Kirti Patel for allegedly posting defamatory videos on social media targeting a Surat-based trader and his family. Suspended Bhavnagar police constable Nayna Baraiya has also been named as a co-accused for allegedly instigating the act and sharing the videos online.

According to the complaint filed by the 43-year-old trader, Patel uploaded videos containing defamatory remarks against his wife, who is the sarpanch of a village in Bhavnagar district. She is also accused of making similar allegations against the trader’s brother.

The complainant further claimed that he was in a live-in relationship with Baraiya for 21 months before the relationship ended. He alleged that Patel created and circulated the videos at Baraiya’s behest, and that both women shared the content on their social media accounts with the intention of defaming him and his family.

The trader also alleged that Patel called and threatened him over the phone. When he informed her that he intended to approach the police, Patel allegedly went to the Puna police station, recorded another defamatory video from within the police station premises, and later created a ruckus outside the station on Saturday night.

Police said Patel allegedly left the spot after issuing another threat to the complainant through a video message.

Based on the complaint, Puna police have registered a case against Patel and Baraiya under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) related to defamation, along with sections of the Information Technology Act. Further investigation is underway.

The latest FIR adds to Patel’s legal troubles. She already faces multiple criminal cases and was previously detained under the Prevention of Anti-Social Activities (PASA) Act. DeshGujarat
