Surat: A Special POCSO Court has convicted and sentenced rickshaw puller Mohammad Saeedkhan Mohammad Sharifkhan, also known as Faridkhan Pathan, of Begampura Tulsi Phalia to two years’ imprisonment and a Rs 15,000 fine for sexually harassing a minor Hindu girl.
The case was filed in 2024 at Uttaran Police Station. According to the FIR, the 13-year-old girl, a student who used the accused’s rickshaw to travel to tuition, was repeatedly subjected to lewd comments by the rickshaw puller in the name of horror and adult stories. The accused allegedly attempted to touch her inappropriately during one of the rides.
After the girl returned home and informed her mother, the family lodged a complaint with the police. Uttaran Police registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and the case was prosecuted in the Special POCSO Court.
Public Prosecutor Vishal Faldu presented evidence and witnesses in support of the prosecution. Considering the submissions from both sides and the documentary record, the court found the accused guilty and handed down the sentence. DeshGujarat
