GPCB Issues Closure Notices to 12 Industrial Units in Ankleshwar
July 17, 2026
Ankleshwar: The Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) has reportedly issued closure notices to 12 industrial units in the Ankleshwar region for alleged violations of environmental norms under the Water Act and the Air Act.
It is learnt that the action was taken against units found to be non-compliant with pollution control regulations, including the improper disposal of industrial effluents, violations of prescribed air emission standards, and other activities considered harmful to the environment.
The units have been ordered to undertake the necessary corrective measures to comply with environmental regulations. Sources said failure to address the violations could invite further legal action under the relevant environmental laws.
The move is being seen as part of the GPCB’s efforts to strengthen enforcement against industries that fail to meet pollution control standards. Meanwhile, questions have been raised over the lack of transparency in the action, as the GPCB has not disclosed the names of the 12 industrial units that received the closure notices. DeshGujarat
