Matrimonial Merry-Go-Round: Wife Changes 12 Advocates in Two Years to Stall Case
July 17, 2026
Ahmedabad: A bitter matrimonial maintenance dispute under Section 125 took a bizarre turn when the court exposed an extraordinary pattern of procedural delays.
The husband’s counsel pointed out that the case had been stuck at the exact same stage since 2024 because the applicant wife had changed her legal counsel 12 separate times over a two-year period. She regularly requested adjournments to prepare for cross-examinations, which the trial court ultimately refused.
The court issued a strict, final ultimatum that she must conclude her entire cross-examination on July 27, 2026, without fail, and no further adjournments will be permitted
