Yuriy R. Fedkiw Assumes Office as U.S. Consul General in Mumbai

Mumbai: Yuriy R. Fedkiw is the new U.S. Consul General (CG) in Mumbai, India. He assumed office on July 7, 2026.
Before coming to Mumbai, CG Fedkiw served in Bern, Switzerland, as the Counselor for Political-Economic Affairs and long-term Acting Deputy Chief of Mission covering relations with the Swiss Confederation and the Principality of Liechtenstein.
CG Fedkiw’s previous diplomatic assignments include the U.S. embassies in Ukraine, Poland, Iraq, Slovenia, and Japan, where he worked on political, economic, commercial, politicalmilitary, assistance, law enforcement, nonproliferation, and science and technology issues. 
In 2021, CG Fedkiw helped establish the Afghanistan Affairs Unit in Qatar, where he engaged the Taliban on human rights, humanitarian issues, and security priorities. He has also served as Consul General in Lahore, Pakistan; Principal Officer in Fukuoka, Japan; and as a Consul in Chengdu, China.
Prior to joining the Foreign Service, CG Fedkiw worked for local city government in southwest Japan. He has two Masters of Arts degrees in International Affairs and a Bachelor of Arts degree in East Asian Studies.
While in India, CG Fedkiw looks forward to engaging with regional leadership and stakeholders to advance American economic interests, strengthen critical security partnerships, and ensure that bilateral cooperation delivers tangible benefits for the American people.
