Rajkot: A 19-year-old Hindu female from the city has filed a complaint against a Muslim man from Jamnagar, alleging that he repeatedly raped her on the pretext of marrying her after divorcing his wife. The Gandhigram police have registered an FIR against the accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, as the alleged abuse began when the complainant was a minor.
It is learnt that the accused is Shahrukh Jam, a resident of Gulabnagar in Jamnagar. In her complaint, the victim alleged that around five years ago when she was a minor, Shahrukh befriended her and developed a relationship with her. She claimed that he initially concealed the fact that he was married and then lured her into a relationship by promising to divorce his wife and marry her.
The complainant alleged that the accused took her to his residence and to various hotels in Jamnagar, where he repeatedly raped her against her will. She further stated that when she became pregnant, the accused again assured her that he would marry her. However, he later refused to marry her, ended the relationship, and returned to living with his wife.
Based on the complaint, the Gandhigram police have registered a case against the accused under relevant provisions, including the POCSO Act, and have initiated efforts to arrest him. DeshGujarat
