Six Booked for Forging Aadhaar Card to Grab and Sell Seven Plots in Surat
July 18, 2026
Surat: Six persons have been booked for allegedly forging an Aadhaar card to fraudulently transfer ownership of seven plots in Bhavaninagar-2 Society at Pali village in the Sachin GIDC area before selling them.
According to the police complaint, the plots were originally purchased by Virumati Modi through sale agreements in 1994. Following her death in 2024, ownership of the seven plots passed to her son, Jayesh Modi, under a registered will. About six months ago, Modi discovered that the properties had been transferred to other individuals and subsequently sold.
Police said the accused allegedly created a fake Aadhaar card in the name of Virumati Modi. Although the forged document carried her name, it reportedly contained a different Aadhaar number and date of birth.
Using the forged identity, the accused allegedly transferred ownership of the plots. Investigators said Ajit Singh allegedly took possession of three plots, while Yogesh Singh acquired the remaining four. The properties were later sold with the alleged assistance of co-accused Arjun Khere, Satish Dumaswala and Ramsagar Maurya, who acted as witnesses to the transactions.
Police have also booked the woman whose Aadhaar details were allegedly misused to prepare the forged identity document. DeshGujarat
