ACB Gujarat Nabs Talati-Mantri and Aide in Decoy Bribe Trap

Surat: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat on Monday caught a Talati-cum-Mantri and a contractual computer operator red-handed in a decoy bribe trap. The accused allegedly accepted a bribe of Rs. 7,500 to assess a newly constructed residential house in Haldharu Gram Panchayat of Kamrej taluka in Surat district.
The arrested accused are Bharatbhai Bachubhai Wala (35), posted as Talati-cum-Mantri (Class III) of Haldharu Gram Panchayat, and contractual computer operator Nikhilbhai Sanjaybhai Bhalia (22).
According to the ACB, information was received that officials and employees of Haldharu Gram Panchayat were demanding bribes ranging from Rs. 7,000 to Rs. 14,000 for assessing newly constructed residential houses. To verify the information, the ACB laid a decoy trap.
During the operation, the accused held a conversation with the decoy complainant and demanded Rs. 7,500 for carrying out the assessment of the residential house. After accepting the bribe amount of Rs. 7,500, they were caught red-handed by the ACB team. The entire bribe amount of Rs. 7,500 was recovered during the trap. DeshGujarat
