Anand Child Rape-Murder Accused Killed in Encounter After Attacking Cops

Anand: A 25-year-old, Suresh Vitthalbhai Parmar, arrested in connection with the abduction, rape and killing of a 4.5-year-old girl from Vasad, was shot dead Monday morning after police allegedly fired in self-defence when the accused attacked them and tried to flee custody.

Police say the accused attacked two escorting constables with a knife while being transported from Borsad, where he had been taken into custody, to Anand. He reportedly told the driver to stop the vehicle, saying he felt unwell.

The vehicle was halted near the bridge between Asodar and Kanthariya. As soon as it stopped, the accused reportedly attacked constables Mahipalsinh and Rajveersinh with a hidden paddle, seriously injuring them.

PSI Rana repeatedly issued legal warnings to Parmar to stop and ordered him to surrender, but he continued his assault, forcing them to open fire in what the official called an act of self-defence. The man was hit twice and taken to Shri Krishna Medical Hospital in Karamsad, where he died during treatment.

His body has been sent for post-mortem, and legal procedures are in progress.

Rape and murder case details

The accused was arrested on July 19 after investigators identified him in CCTV footage from Vasad Railway Station that allegedly showed him taking the child. The girl went missing from Platform No. 1 at about 9.15 pm on July 18; her body was found the next morning roughly 200 metres down the tracks from the platform.

Police suspect she was sexually assaulted before being killed, and that her body was thrown onto the tracks to destroy evidence. Her clothing was recovered separately, and authorities have registered a preliminary case of rape and murder while awaiting post-mortem and forensic results. DeshGujarat
